BAND DETAILS
Each member of Bladerunner is an
experienced gigging musician. Our aim is to provide an entertaining,
enjoyable and professional night’s music to any audience we find. Because
when they enjoy it, we enjoy it all the more.
Bladerunner consists of six members, two guitars, two brass, bass and
drums. Three of us sing. The members are:
Cliff: our main vocalist and guitarist. Cliff has a rich, tuneful voice,
equally at home with Rhythm ‘n Blues or slow ballads, from ‘Mustang Sally’
to ‘Angels’. His lead guitar is also melodic, as demonstrated in the
Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Need your love so bad’. Cliff has been performing
music such as this for most of his life.
Jez: our lead guitarist and part-time vocalist. Jez is a versatile
guitarist who can take any song and find a way to play it. He has the kind
of musical ear that hears a song on the radio and writes the chords out
there and then. He also contributes backing vocals and sings lead on a few
songs.
Clare: our trumpet player and female vocalist. As a singer she’s taken on
challenges as diverse as Dido, Shania Twain and Kisty McColl. Something of
a virtuoso trumpet player, Clare also arranges all the brass parts.
Bob: our trumpet / trombone player. Also a veteran of music, performing
regularly as he moonlights with his Brass Band. His trombone looks
different to what most people would call a trombone but he insists that’s
what it is and we believe him.
Kevin: our bass player. Kevin’s bass playing is quiet, understated and
totally reliable. Always there when he’s needed, he seems to know how to
play each song before the rest of have started learning it. It’s
instinctive.
Dave: our drummer. Solid as a rock, providing abundant rhythm and energy
for a good night’s music. Dave has played in bands all around the world,
which is probably why he now plays an electronic drum kit – it’s much
easier to carry.
